Understanding UK Qualification Levels: Your Guide to Academic Progression

Level 3

This 120-credit qualification is comparable to completing two A-levels and serves as a foundational pathway. Comprised of six modules and corresponding written assignments, the course prepares students for the first year of an undergraduate degree or progression to a Level 4 diploma.

Level 4

Equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree, Level 4 includes 10 modules and eight assignments. Students earn 120 credits, advancing their academic journey while gaining essential knowledge for professional development.

Level 5

At Level 5, students complete the equivalent of a Higher National Diploma (HND) or the second year of a bachelor’s degree. Through 10 modules and eight assignments, learners gain 120 credits, qualifying them for advanced university entry or employment opportunities.

Level 6

This level provides eligibility for postgraduate programmes such as MBAs. With 10 modules and six assignments, the course equips students with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary for leadership roles or further academic pursuits.

Level 7

Level 7 is a postgraduate-level course offering 120 credits, qualifying learners for an MBA Top-Up programme. It involves a combination of up to 30 modules and eight assignments, which can be completed online or on campus at recognised institutions.
